"Ten Great Tips For Being A Friend To The Earth"

1. Always turn off a light when you leave a room. Leaving lights on wastes energy. If you turn on a light in the daytime, ask yourself--"Do I need this light on, can I see fine without it?" If the answer is yes, then off goes the light.
2. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Leaving water running is a big waste and we all want to conserve water.
3. Make sure to put your garbage in the trash bin. Never toss your garbage out on the street. Let's keep our planet clean!
4. Plant a tree. They clean the air that we breathe and they give us medicines as well. Let's keep our planet green!
5. Walk or ride a bike to get places.
6. Ask your parents if you can get a compost bin. If you already have one make sure to put your fruit and vegetable peelings in the composter.
7. Be sure to recycle your cans, papers and bottles. When I was young everyone threw them in the trash. Can you imagine! Now we can recycle and keep our garbage dumps from growing.
8. Use a stainless steel or reusable bottle for your drinks. The fewer plastic, throw-a-way bottles we buy, the better!
9. Recycle your clothes. Did you know you could do that? Here's how--When you outgrow your clothes pass them on to someone else so that they can wear them. You are helping the environment and people at the same time.
10. Use both sides of a page when doing your school work (if possible) Saving paper means saving trees.
